Madras High Court bans the release of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ pirated versions | Tamil Movie News


Directed by Mani Ratnam, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ has been made on a massive budget of around Rs 500 crores, and the film, based on the novel, is made in two parts. The first part of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ has been released today, and the historical film is getting positive reviews. Meanwhile, Madras High Court has banned the release of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ pirated versions. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ makers have moved to the court to ban the release of the film on pirated websites as it might inflict a loss if the film made on a huge budget is available free to watch on those websites. So, the Madras High Court has banned the release of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ on pirated websites, overall more than 2000 websites have been banned to release the film.

This adds power to the film as the fans can only enjoy the film on big screens. Meanwhile, the makers have also sent a request to fans to send links related to pirated copies of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ to make them unavailable. Fans have also been sending a request to cinephiles to not share videos or pictures from theatres taken from the screening on social media to avoid spoilers.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ stars Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayaram, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, and Prabhu among others in main roles. AR Rahman composed the music, while the visuals are captured by Ravi Varman. The much-awaited film started with early morning shows today, and the film has received positive reviews from fans.
